First Things First: Simple Tasks for Your First Few Hours in a New Home in Calgary

After a long day of moving to or from Calgary, AB or elsewhere in Canada, travelling back and forth between homes, coordinating and arranging services, odds are that you just want to relax. This isn’t something that you should be worried about (especially if you’ve completed all of the essential moving tasks), in fact relaxing and rewarding yourself after a day of hard work should be encouraged. Still, there are some very easy, relaxed tasks that you can and should complete on your first night in your new home in Calgary. Here they are:

Arrange dinner – After a long day of moving, the last thing you will want to do is cook, but you also probably don’t want to go out and spend a bunch of money on a fancy meal. You want to relax and begin to organize your new place. The best course of action is to pick a delivery service that you like, and treat yourself, you deserve it. Plus, with the delivery option, you can get started on organizing your new place right away.

Organize your Television/Internet Are you a techy person?  Or just someone that likes to be connected? Then we assume you are going to want internet and television in your new home, it’s practically mandatory in 2015. With the bulk of your move completed, now is a good time to arrange these services for your new place. Make sure you take a little while to weigh up your options and see if there any deals available for new users, then make an appointment for a technician to come, it’s best to get this done as soon as possible, as technicians can take as long as a couple of weeks to come.

Start arranging your furniture – We know that after a long day of moving to or from Calgary, the last thing you want to do is some heavy lifting, but if you have any spare energy left, it is well worth it to place some couches and tables in the spot they will live in. Any little steps you can take to make your new house feel like a home will be beneficial to you.

Walk around the neighbourhood – If you’ve done your research before the big move, you may be familiar with the landmarks around your new place in Calgary, but it can never help to take a walk and familiarize yourself with the area a little more. This is a great opportunity to take some time to clear your head after what was surely a demanding day.

Make your bed – If there’s one thing that anyone wants after a long day of physical activity, it’s a good sleep. Not only is this a good chance to test out your new washer and dryer, it’s also an opportunity to get some fresh, clean sheets on your mattress. A new start in a new home.

After a long day of moving, it can be helpful to wind down by doing some minor tasks that will help you make the new digs feel like home. Hopefully by performing these easy, relaxing tasks you can get a head start on making your new home feel right for you, and clear your head from the stresses of the moving day.
